#letterstonoone: Dear Rostered Day Off
Dear Rostered Day Off,
Today I took an RDO, a rare occurrence for this punctual nerd, and I promised myself I would make the most of our time together.
I left the house at 7am and in the hours since I have: Driven to Oakleigh and back. Gone to a funeral in Sunshine. I was also nearly side-swiped off the road by a Coca Cola truck. I saw my life fizz before my eyes and was mortified to think that when they'd find my corpse the car radio would still be blasting Justin Bieber on Fox Fm and that would be my lasting legacy.
I did a lot of waiting today too. I waited in line at Medicare just to be told to download the Medicare app. Then I called Medicare and waited on hold, where I was forced to listen to an orchestra concerto for 26 minutes, just so they could teach me how to set up said app - a service typically offered to pensioners not Gen Y tech savvy patrons. I then called my 'friends' at Vodaphone and after channelling everything I have learned from Judge Judy over the years had a $45 victory.
But to me the day really peaked, when I witnessed a lady with badttitude cut the long, long, long toilet line at Highpoint and use the disabled facility (of which she was not entitled to). Everyone looked on speechless and in shock. Eventually she exited the cubicle with the same bad manners she had entering and a trail of toilet paper stuck to her kitten heel. I did what any good citizen would have done: I said nothing.
Thanks RDO, you were good to me.
